Sociolinguistic methodology and data analysis, language ideology, and language in social institutions. Course-topics include: quantitative and qualitative methods (variationist, ethnographic, and discourse analytic methods); Anglo-American, Continental pragmatics; language and socio-cultural identity (culture, politeness, power, solidarity, and gender); and institutional discourse (juridical, therapeutic, political, religious, etc.).
