The Ph.D. in Linguistics teaches a wide range of skills in research and teaching that enable graduates to move smoothly into postdocs or tenure-track positions. Our students are integrated early on in the program into research groups and research projects, often resulting in publications. Many of our graduates currently hold tenured or tenure-track positions around the world.

The graduate degrees in Computational Linguistics teach skills at the intersection between Linguistics, Computer Science, and Cognitive Science. The Ph.D. enables graduates to pursue an academic career, or to go into industry. The M.A. in Computational Linguistics targets students coming from a linguistic background, the M.S. in Computational Linguistics is better suited for students with a technical background. Both prepare graduates for Ph.D. programs or for careers in industry. Our graduates have been hired by companies such as Amazon, Google, IBM, Mercedes, Microsoft, and Nuance, but many also work at smaller companies.
Students, especially in Computational Linguistics but also in the other fields, are encouraged to seek internships. We have contacts at a wide range of companies, and we actively support our students in their applications.
