In addition to scholarship and grant programs from the Indiana University Graduate School, College of Arts and Sciences, and many external funding agencies, the Department of Linguistics, through the generosity of faculty and alumni of the department, offers support for student research development in three funds.
cScholarships & Awards
The Fred Householder Research Award
Householder research grants are awarded to students to support specific costs of doing research beyond general support and conference participation. Such grants are awarded specifically to enable students to engage in data gathering and small equipment acquisition.
Department of Linguistics Travel Award
Funds are available to supplement the support from the College of Arts and Sciences to enable students to engage in professional conferences, a crucial element of becoming an active research professional within the discipline.
Department of Linguistics Graduate Fellowship
The Department of Linguistics on occasion has funds to help support special educational or training expenses, such as the cost of attending the Summer Linguistics Institute of the Linguistic Society of America.
Additional resources
In addition to departmental support, a number of our students have also been supported via the College of Arts and Sciences Dissertation Completion and Research Fellowships, and have received University Graduate School Dissertation Grant-in-Aids.
