An unusual feature of the Indiana University doctoral programs is the requirement of a substantive minor. The Linguistics Ph.D. minor gives students in many language-related departments the opportunity to build a technical foundation in some area of language inquiry and build a research relationship with one of our faculty. The minor is flexible in terms of course requirements, and is built by connecting up with one of our faculty to determine how best to use the variety of Linguistics courses to support your interests.
We offer three Ph.D. minors for students outside of our department.
- Ph.D. Minor in Linguistics
- Ph.D. Minor in African Languages and Linguistics
- Ph.D. Minor in Computational Linguistics
