- Topic: The Phonology of Present-Day English
This seminar focuses on the phonology of North American English that centers around issues related to syllables, syllabification, word stress, foot structure, phonotacitcs and segmental phonology. Topics to be considered in detail includes the nature of the syllable and syllabification, aspiration, glides, vowel deletion, stress patterns, and foot structure. Course requirements include article presentations and a term paper.
